SHNU: As the country marks its annual National Fire Prevention Day, SHNU is making a concerted effort to publicize the knowledge and skills of fire safety or fire prevention by organizing relevant activities on both Xuhui and Fengxian campuses.
An escape drill started at 1 p.m. on Xuhui campus. After the fire alarm sounded, SHNU staff in buildings cut off the electricity, covered their mouths and noses with wet towels and evacuated in order through the safety passage. SHNU authorities Huang Gang and Mao Dingwen practiced on how to use fire extinguishers together with the teachers and students.
On Fengxian campus, SHNU Vice President Gao Jianhua, officials from the Fengxian District Fire Brigade and relevant staff from SHNU attended the short opening ceremony.
The firefighters demonstrated how to put out the fire and how to use fire extinguishers. Students practiced how to escape from the fire danger through stairways and by aerial ladders.
The National Fire Prevention Day is set on November 9th, not only because it corresponds to the national emergency number: 119, but also because it is the start of the dry season when fires are most likely.
