SHNU: On September 9, Hu Dalong , the customer manager of Thomson Reuters Company Beijing Representative Office, was invited by the SHNU to give a lecture. The lecture was about the scientific effects and values of Web of Science (SCI/SSCI/A&HCI) database. Many teachers and students were attracted to the lecture.
Web of Science is an important database through which academic information all around the world can be obtained. It has a collection of about 12,000 authoritative and influential journals in the world. It covers the field of natural science, engineering technology, biomedicine, social sciences, arts and humanities, the earliest of which dates back to 1898.
The lecture introduced the features and usage of these databases to the teachers and students. Since 2004, the library has bought three citation index databases -- SCI, SSCI and A&HCI of Web of Science.
