Specialist from the UNDP Lectures on SHNU Xuesihu Overseas Master’s Forum

SHNU: During October 24 to 27, Dr. Yan Jianping, expert on senior risk assessment and management of BCPR/UNDP (Bureau For Crisis Prevention And Recovery of the United Nations Development Program) visited SHNU to carry out the joint project between UNDP and SHNU.

Dr. Yan was also invited to give a lecture on the Xuesihu Overseas Master’s Forum. The lecture was entitled “the Solution to the Global Risk Identification Plan (GRIP) and Its Practice in Developing Countries”.
    
  In the lecture, Dr. Yan gave a profound and overall introduction to the aim of GRIP, the medium-term and long-term plans, disaster and risk evaluation, and its practice in developing countries. Besides, he explained the idea of the construction of National Disaster Observatory , its design and development as well as application.

During the lecture, Dr. Yan also supervised the “GRIP-CERAM Shanghai” team, confirmed the direction of the future development and drew up the work plans. This research center will be officially unveiled on October 29 at SHNU conference centre.
        
Dr. Yan, a famous international specialist in disaster risk assessment, is mainly engaged in the construction of UN-ISDR and GRIP, hammering at helping developing countries to work out strategies for disaster and risk reduction.
