SHNU Student to Participate in the “2011 APEC Summit” in America

SHNU: The final competition of “APEC Future Sound” in China district concluded the other day. Xu Congchong, a student from Foreign Languages College of SHNU, won the fourth prize and was honored “Excellent Candidate” in the competition and therefore got the admission ticket of the 2011 Hawaii APEC Summit.

The top five winners of the competition came from Tsinghua University, Beijing University, PLA Information Engineering University, Shanghai Normal University and Xi’an Fanyi University respectively.

Xu Congchong took part in the competition in May and won the first prize in East China district. She went to Beijing to compete with other 31 candidates who experienced English debate, interviews, and questions and answers. Xu Congchong expressed her ideas about future and dreams fluently, talked about APEC hot topics smoothly, and interviewed hot news smartly, all of which helped her gain the recognition of all the judges, guests and audience present.

The 2011 APEC Future Sound Competition was commissioned by Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and jointly held by China Council for the Promoting of International Trade, and the China Trade Newspaper. It began in May this year and was cooperated by “Practice 51” and “APEC Future Sound”. About 50,000 students from nearly 300 universities of the country entered for it. The final top five winners will go to America to take part in the Hawaii APEC Summit in November.
