SHNU: Recently, a delegation of 6 members from SHNU Education Development Foundation flew to China’s southern Yunnan province to convey greetings to the volunteers there.
The “Dawn Project”, laid out by SHNU EFD and Shanghai Han Zheyi Education and Poverty Lifting Foundation, was initiated in September, 2009. Aiming at encouraging university students to offer practicable assistance to poverty-stricken students, the porject cultivates the students’ capabilities of social involvement and a sense of social responsibilities.
The delegation of the “Dawn Project” visited the students’ volunteers there for 6 days. The volunteers taught the children from 7 am to 9 pm every day and served as the children’s patrons also. 3 out of the 4 volunteers remained in Menglian, a small county of Yunnan, after the planned period ended.
