SHNU Holds Scholarship Conferring Ceremony for International Students

SHNU: On May 11, the 2011 Scholarship Conferring Ceremony for International Foreign Students Scholarship was held in SHNU. SHNU Vice President Lu Jianfei attended the meeting. Also present were relevant staff from International Exchange Division, International College of Chinese Studies (ICCS), and College of Humanities and Communications.

Lu congratulated the awardees and encouraged them to work hard and assimilate into the university life as well as the Chinese culture. Lu also hoped that the international students could regard SHNU as their second hometown, where they would choose for further study and introduce more of their friends and acquaintances to come.

Three international students, Amadu from Senegal, Chen Yubin from Thailand and An Jiaying from South Korea spoke on behalf of all the awardees to express their gratitude for SHNU and shared some interesting things in the course of their campus life

Up to now, SHNU has altogether 106 international students from 28 countries funded with all kinds of scholarships. Among them 43 students are granted Chinese Government Scholarship, 32 Confucius College Scholarship winners, and 31 Shanghai Municipal Government Scholarship winners. Further, 9 of them are doctoral candidates, 31 are studying for their master's degree, 29 are undergraduates and 37 are short-term or long-term students.

They are presently studying in 6 colleges of SHNU, namely, ICCS, College of Humanities and Communications, College of Education, College of Civil Engineering, College of Life and Environmental Sciences and Finance College.
