SHNU: Following a massive 9.0 magnitude earthquake that shook Japan and triggered a devastating tsunami last Friday, Student's Affairs Division of SHNU organized two lectures about earthquake on March 16.
The lecturers were delivered by Dr. Qin Jianye from University of California (also special professor of SHNU), Berkeley and Prof. Wen Jiahong from the College of Tourism, SHNU. They explained to the students the formation of an earthquake with special reference to the secondary disasters like tsunami and nuclear pollution in the Japanese quake.
The other day, Prof. Shu Yunguo, an expert of African Studies, was invited to lecture on the issues of the Middle East in terms of the situation in Libya.
All these three lectures belong to the "Situation and Policy" course series that are set up to help the students learn more about China and the world.
