SHNU Professor’s Tour in Switzerland Made a Hit

SHNU: At the invitation of the city of Martigny, Switzerland, Professor Liu Zhengguo, the famous Yue (an ancient short flute) player from SHNU Music College, staged 5 performances in different regions of Martigny and Geneva, achieving great success and popularity among the local audience.

The tour, from Feb. 12 to 21, was part of the serial cultural activities of “Happy Spring Festival” jointly held by Martigny and Cultural Office of Chinese Embassy in Switzerland. Together with his student Dr. Wang Xiaojun from Nanjing Arts Institute, Prof. Liu played different kinds of flutes in the form of solo and ensemble, which greatly impressed the Swiss audience. The flutes they used boasts 8000 to 9000 examinable years of history.

Many officials attended the performance including Mads Olesen, cultural official of Martigny, Mr. Feng Xinzeng and Ms. Li Keming, Cultural Counselors of Chinese Embassy in Switzerland. The success of the concert facilitated cultural understanding and communication between Switzerland and China, and meanwhile it enhanced the friendship between the two countries.
