Expo Volunteer Work of SHNU Awarded by the Party Central Committee and the State Council

30 Dec 2010

SHNU: The meeting for summarizing the work of 2010 Shanghai World Expo and commending outstanding collectives and individuals was held in the Great Hall of the People on December 27. General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee Hu Jintao spoke highly of the Expo spirit in his address. Premier Wen Jiabao chaired the meeting. As a representative of outstanding collectives that had done a good job in the volunteer work, SHNU was awarded the honorary title of Advanced Collective at the meeting.

During the expo, over 8,000 volunteers from SHNU offered services to more than 11 million visitors despite the intense heat and the great passenger flow for several weeks. Besides, nearly one thousand teachers and students worked as logisticians to guarantee the health care, security, accommodation and transportation for the volunteers. Their efforts contributed to the successful accomplishment of the expo.

This is a special honor for everyone in SHNU, not only for the selfless volunteers, but also for the SHNU leadership that gave an all-round and effective guidance and the logisticians who offered spontaneous support. In future, education through practice will be a feature of SHNU’s volunteer work which is expected to provide more scope for students to learn and develop better.
