20 Feb 2014

SHNU: February 14th marks China’s traditional Lantern Festival. On that day, red lanterns were hung outside the office of CI (Confucius Institute) of the University of Missouri (UM). The warm festive ambience filled the buildings, and some even took photos there.
On that evening, Wang Laping, Chinese Director of CI of UM and also a SHNU teacher invited all the staff members, volunteers and teachers for dinner at a Chinese restaurant with Shanghai style in the city of Columbia to celebrate the festival. Songs were sung, and happy talks were going on.
Everyone discussed matters such as the Chinese language training for American teachers of CI, summer plans of exchanges, and wished for better development of CI in the future..
This year, the Chinese Lantern Festival coincides with the western Valentine’s Day. Each of the teachers and volunteers were given a box of chocolate and a greeting card as gifts.
