SHNU: On January 20th, 2014, a group of 30 SHNU education-majored students led by 2 teachers headed for Concordia University Wisconsin in the United States for a three-week-long international education internship and cultural exchanges. After fulfilling the task successfully, they have now returned home.
The program aimed at promoting students’ understanding of American system of basic education, curricula structure, and classroom teaching methods by comparing Chinese and American education patterns. Also, it would expand students’ scope of teacher education and strengthen their creational abilities in teacher education. During the program, SHNU students went to American elementary and middle schools under the directions of American teachers. The SHNU students also probed into the conditions of American students and their classroom teaching modes. They even visited American families and staged shows of Kongfu fans, bamboo flutes and Chinese calligraphy. The students kept a tight schedule: to do intern in elementary and middle schools or audit the classes in the university during the day and finish the assignment at night, and to prepare for the activities the next day. Every week, the students had to complete their report on internship communications. Moreover, the SHNU students delivered English speeches for academic exchanges with the theme of School-based Curriculum, Angry Cram Schools and Teaching in the Class. The team ended their trip and returned to SHNU on February 11th. |
