SHNU: On January 6th, the tenured professor of University of Toronto Dr. Chen Pintang visited SHNU and was conferred certificates of guest professors of SHNU School of Education. On that very day, Dr. Chen delivered two academic reports for senior job consultants of Shanghai, involving about 20 participants from Fudan University, Shanghai Jiaoting University and East China Normal University. Xia Huixian, Dean of SHNU School of Education, hosted the ceremony and the ensuing report Meaning making: How humanistic and vocational psychology interact. In his view, Chen argues that the basis of postmodern psychology is actually humanism. Here, meaning could be perceived from perspectives of individual psychology, human nature, and existential philosophy; however, meaning could also be understood by comparison with human behavior in aspects of objectivity, purposes and social dimensions. The titles of two academic reports of Chen are Career guidance and counseling : Its origins and development and Career theories in motion: An evolutionary overview. |
