SHNU: The first “Chinese Language Day”of Japan, initiated by SHNU Confucius Institute (CI) of Fukuyama University was held on September 23, the Autumnal Equinox according to the Chinese lunar calendar and one of the national holidays of Japan.
The place where CI was located was decorated with red couplets, red lanterns, giant Chinese knots, balloons, Chinese banners and toy pandas, all typical of Chinese culture. Three courses were provided for the attendants to experience—Chinese Calligraphy, Chinese Painting, and the Chinese language learning. Attendants were so interested that many of them entered names for relevant courses. From 2014, NOCFL (China National Office for Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language) will hold “Chinese Language Day” in over 500 Confucius Institutes and 500 Confucius Classrooms all over the world at the same time. SHNU applied for running it a year earlier to get more experience, and got approved by NOCFL. |
