[Dec. 28, 2012] SHNU professor Zhang Yongming, the Dean of Environmental Engineering Department in Life and Environmental Science College, received the honorary title of “2012 Outstanding Environmental Science and Technology Workers” conferred by Chinese Society for Environmental Science after quality verification and strict selection from experts in the relevant fields. During the past 20 years, Professor Zhang worked diligently and assiduously, having made remarkable achievements in teaching and research in Environmental Science and Engineering. In the field of environmental education, he cultivated nearly 50 postgraduates who are working for environmental protection of the country. In scientific research, he developed a series of reactors which could treat refractory organic wastewater, greatly enhancing the rate of degradation of organic matter and the degree of mineralization. His findings have been published in prestigious journals at home and abroad, which is highly praised by environmental biotechnology experts in the world and the academicians of U.S. Academy of Engineering.
