[Dec. 24, 2012] Organized by the Higher Education Services Office of the Government of Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR), the Higher Education Quality Assurance Symposium was held from December 16th to December 18th. It invited many higher education management experts from the relevant departments of the Education Ministry, experts at home and abroad and professional assessment institutions of higher education to discuss the issue of Higher Education Quality Assurance. Huang Gang, SHNU deputy party secretary, was invited to attend the conference. He presided over the workshop of “A Panoramic Structure of the cultivation of Application-oriented Talents”, which attracted nearly 40 experts and scholars from colleges and universities in Macao. Huang Gang started his speech with the problems faced by China’s universities in cultivating application-oriented talents and the gap between the present situation and the requirements of the society. He also talked about the teaching ideas, teaching modes, teaching methods, teaching practice and teaching management of SHNU. He pointed out that considering high quality of talents training as our ultimate goal, Macao and mainland universities should strengthen cooperation and exchange; and based on our different school conditions and orientations, we should integrate economic and cultural environment of the community to form our own advanced disciplines and majors.
