Recently, Zhen Kelu, Professor of Humanity and Communicaitions College and an expert in French translation, has won the 2012 Fu Lei Translation and Publishing Award with his complete version The Second Sex. The Awarding ceremony was held in Beijing on December 14. There were two translators awarded the honour this year. Professor Zhen Kelu studied French in Beijing University at the early stage of his life. He once translated La Dame aux Camelias, Les Miserable, The Count of Monte Cristo and other famous classic French novels. He was also an excellent French literature historian. He has written many monographs about French literature and history. Last year, he worked as the only translator of Simone de Beauvoir’s The Second Sex. Last October, The Second Sex translated by Professor Zhen Kelu was published by Shanghai Translation Publishing House. The book includes many disciplines such as biology, philosophy, literature, psychoanalysis and others. Fu Lei Translation and Publishing Award was founded in 2009, and the fourth time this year. The award aims to encourage and reward the best French books translated into Chinese. Each year, the judging panels composed of writers, professors will pick out one literature book and one social literature book. The winners would get a 8000-euro award.（Translated by Wu Shujie） |
