SHNU: On November 9, Xia Jisen from the SHNU College of Law and Politics delivered a lecture entitled “Reading and Behaving” on Fengxian Campus.
Beginning with the relationship between reading and behaving, Xia introduced different reading methods used by well-known figures like Mao Zedong (the founder of the People's Republic of China), Lu Xun (famous writer), Hua Luogeng (outstanding mathematician), etc.
He hoped that students could choose a reading method that fits their own interest and conditions. He suggests that university students should refer to the following four steps in reading: first, read more books of their major; second, read books relevant to their major; third, learn to digest what they have read; and finally, also the most difficult to achieve, try to criticize and question what has been read.
At the end of the lecture, students raised a lot of questions and Xia shared his own reading experience with them, wishing everyone to live a wonderful life with books as the companion.
