SHNU: The FLTRP (Foreign Language Teaching & Research Press) Cup National English Speech Contest for University Students (Shanghai Region) was held on November 10. Zhu Yueyang, an SHNU student from Foreign Languages College, won the special prize and was qualified to enter the final.

Students from 23 universities in Shanghai took part in this contest. The Grand Prize, First Prize, Second Prize and Third Prize were awarded after almost 5 hours of heated competition. The top 3 candidates have gained qualification tickets for the national final competition, to be held this December in Beijing.

The SHNU Foreign Languages College began the selection of candidates for this contest last semester, and Zhu Yueyang was among the best speakers from the 10 outstanding candidates selected by the college. This is the second time for SHNU student to win the first prize in the FLTRP Cup (Shanghai Region).

Hosted by Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press, the FLTRP Cup—National English Speaking Contest for College Students aims at creating a platform, on which university students will be stimulated to learn foreign languages and demonstrate their integrated practical skills of English, especially in listening and speaking, and, hopefully, to enhance English language teaching and learning in institutions of higher education.
