SHNU: The opening ceremony of the 3rd Reading Culture Festival of SHNU was held in the library of Feng Xian campus on November 7.

This reading festival aims at refining students’ temperament, improving contemporary college students’ culture literacy and stimulating their potentials. Besides, through respecting students’ personalities and providing nourishment for their growth, it could help upgrade the overall qualities and competence of students.

In the opening ceremony, Professor Cao Xu told the students: “All of our space should be filled with reading —if sunshine, air and water are the three major elements for us to survive; then reading is the 4th element of great importance for a human being.” He also brought the first lecture of the festival entitled My Reading Notes: Demeanor and Literature in Wei and Jin Dynasties—focusing on the Seven Sages of the Bamboo Grove (Zhúlín Qī Xián).

This reading cultural festival will last for a month, trying to build a platform for students to read more books and read good books through various kinds of activities. It is also hoped that a favorable academic and cultural atmosphere culture will be created on the campus.
