SHNU: As an activity to celebrate 40th founding anniversary of SHNU Music College, three famous tenors from the Mainland of China, Taiwan and Hong Kong staged a concert in Shanghai Concert Hall on the evening of October 12.
The tenors are, respectively: Prof. Zhou Jinhua from SHNU College of Music, Wan Jianping, Music Director of Hong Kong City Choir (also teacher of Music Department of Chinese University of Hong Kong, SHNU alumnus of 1997) , and Kong Xiaocheng the young singer from Taiwan.
The concert began with a brisk song “Evening Party” composed by He Lüding, a well-known Chinese musician in the 20th Century. The songs in the first half of the concert were all ballads and original songs of various styles, suiting both refined and popular tastes; while the second half of the concert were mainly western classical opera arias.
As one of the activities in the college’s 40th anniversary celebration, this concert is a rare grand gathering for the exchanges of vocal music art among Shanghai, Hong Kong and Taiwan.
Wide concerns were given to this concert by people from all walks of life.
