SHNU: Wang Jianjiang, SHNU professor from Humanities and Communications College, paid a special visit to the southwest Georgia city of Plains in the US for meeting the 88-year-old former president Jimmy Carter. In spite of the obstacles from the Congress in 1978, Carter declared his government would break off the ties with Taiwan and established diplomatic relationship with the P.R.China, which marked a brand new page of sino-American history of national relations. Carter was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2002 for opposing the strategies of invading Iraq. |
