SHNU: On May 6th, the First Contemporary Education Forum—the Sato Education Lecture, was held in SHNU, sponsored by the Contemporary Educators Magazine, the New Education Research Institute, and the Basic Education Development Center of SHNU. President Zhang Minxuan attended and gave a speech at the meeting. The famous Japanese educator Sato, vice president of the Association Center, Zhu Yongxin, member of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress and about 500 principals from schools all over the nation interacted during the meeting. After the opening ceremony, Sato made a speech on the topic of “Classroom Creation under the Collaborative Learning”, which systematically expounded the philosophical basis of a learning community, the essential connotation, practical strategies, the critical condition to the establishment of a learning community, and the successful cases in the learning communities. Sato also gave brilliant answers to the questions from the Chinese teachers. By listening to the master, the audience learned that learning is to “encounter” and to “converse”; it is the communication between oneself and textbooks, between oneself and other mates, and even with oneself. All those ideas left a deep impression on the audience. Mr. Zhu made a report on the “Creation of a Perfect Classroom”, in which he focused on the vivid cases and concluded many new educational ideas which would help the teachers to shape their mind and life in their professional development.
