Shanghai Esperanto Center Launched in SHNU

SHNU: The Shanghai Esperanto Center was launched in SHNU on April 17. Nearly 100 experts, scholars and representatives including Former SHNU Party Secretary Lu Jianfei, leaders from Shanghai Federation of Social Science Associations and Shanghai Esperanto Association (SEA) as well as teachers and students were present at the ceremony.

Jointly established by SHNU Foreign Languages College and SEA, the center will carry out activities including Esperanto publicizing, teaching and training, scientific researching  and academic exchanging in Esperanto both at home and abroad.

Also, the two sides set up the Special Collection Room of SHNU Foreign Languages College, collecting nearly 2,000 Esperanto books, dictionaries and textbooks. Most of these books are obtained overseas and some very rare and precious.

Wang Minhao, President of Shanghai Esperanto Association and Prof. Li Zhaoguo, Dean of SHNU Foreign Languages College acted as the directors of the center and Prof. Lu Jianfei engaged as the advisor. 

Mark Fettes, President of Universal Esperanto Association (UEA), who was specially invited to attend the ceremony, delivered a lecture entitled Education Value of Esperanto—Cultivating Language Lovers.
