SHNU: On April 11th, figures in education and sport circles gathered in SHNU to celebrate the 100th birthday of Professor Li Zhenzhong and to attend the seminar themed “Li Zhenzhong’s Thoughts of Physical Education”.
The seminar was attended by over 100 people including those in education, basketball and handball circles and Professor Li’s friends, students and guests. Yao Ming, the famous basketball star, came and presented flowers and his best wishes to Professor Li.
Teng Jianyong, Secretary of the CPC Committee of SHNU, made an address on behalf of the university. He spoke highly of Professor Li's contribution to education and development of China’s handball, encouraging everyone to learn his indomitable sportsmanship and commitment to the cause of education. Secretary of the CPC Committee of Shanghai Sports College Dai Jian and Deputy Director of Shanghai Educational Committee Wang Ping made a speech respectively to express their respect and wishes to Professor Li.
Dai Jian and SHNU President Zhu Ziqiang jointly presented Prof. Li a plaque which reads: “A distinguished teacher who has students everywhere”. All people present sang a birthday song and cut the birthday cake for Professor Li, wishing him good health and longevity.
