SHNU: Hosted by World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies (WFCMS) and undertaken by SHNU Foreign Languages College, a symposium on the strategies for the internationalization of Chinese culture and TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) was held in SHNU from April 25 to 27.
On the opening ceremony, SHNU Party Secretary Lu Jianfei extended warm welcome to scholars and experts around the country and introduced the contribution SHNU has made in the education, dissemination and researches of Chinese culture. He also talked about the aim of pushing Chinese culture to the world through TCM, emphasizing the irreplaceable role of foreign language workers in this process.
Prof Li Zhaoguo, Dean of SHNU Foreign Languages College and Chairman of WFCMS, announced that the WFCMS Translation Specialty Committee would hold the symposium for deans of foreign language colleges/departments and set up the International Research Center for TCM Translation.
Director of SHNU International Exchange Division Wu Cheng and representative of WFCMS Li Xinxue unveiled the plate for the International Center of TCM Translation. 30 experts and scholars at home and abroad accepted letters of appointment from the center.
After the opening ceremony, the experts and scholars discussed such academic issues as the internationalization of Chinese culture and TCM, foreign languages and disciplinary construction of translation.
