SHNU President Invited to Lecture in World Bank

SHNU: At the invitation of the World Bank, SHNU President Zhang Minxuan delivered two lectures in its headquarters in Washington on April 17. 

    As a part of the 2014 World Bank Spring Meetings themed “Policy Font of Social Development”, the first lecture of Zhang is entitled “Results and Reflection: Program for International Student Assessment (PISA) and Basic Education Development of Shangha”i. 50 high-ranking officials and experts from UN organizations and over 30 countries listened to the lecture.

    The second lecture focused on policy and plan of the education development of Shanghai. As the host of the middle and long-term plan of the educational reform and development of Shanghai (2010-2020), Zhang explained in details the compiling process and principle in making the plan. The lecture won high praise from the World Bank experts, and some even said the whole process not only reflected “freedom of speech”, but also a scientific and democratic process.

    After the lecture, World Bank officials H.A. Patrinos in charge of the human resources and L. Beneveniste in charge of the Asian affairs met Zhang and they talked about cooperation and researches in teacher education.
