Deputy Director and Chief Editor of CIPG Huang Youyi Gives Lecture to SHNU Students

SHNU: On April 16th, Mr. Huang Youyi, Deputy Director and Chief Editor of China International Publishing Group (CIPG) was invited by SHNU Foreign Languages College to give a lecture entitled “Translation in the era of globalization and how to do C-E translation practice” to teachers and students of FLC. Dean of FLC Professor Li Zhaoguo hosted the lecture.

In the lecture, Mr. Huang focused on the problems of translators at present, such as lack of language skills and cultural knowledge, wrong attitude towards translation and so on. He gave lots of examples based on different text types to show the different translation strategies and attentions for various texts, such as party and government documents, news reports, literary works, names of books, etc., from which we learned translation strategies from a new point of view.

At the end of the lecture, Li Zhaoguo expressed sincere gratitude to Mr. Huang Youyi again, and Mr. Huang gave his high expectation to the students.

Mr. Huang is also Vice President and Secretary-general of Translators Association of China (TAC), Vice-chairman of International Federation of Translators (IFT).
