SHNU: News came that 9 SHNU students are awarded the first and second prizes in the U.S 2014 MCM (Mathematical Contest in Modeling). Among the 8 Students from SHNU Mathematics and Science College, Xu Hansheng, Yang Wenjun and Geng Xiaoman are awarded the first prize, while Zhu Yichen, Wu Di, Xu Shuqiang, Wang Yiwen and Qin Jialu the second prize. Another second-prize winner is Lu Yinchao from SHNU Foreign Languages College.
Hosted by American National Natural Science Foundation Association and American Institute of Applied Mathematics, MCM is a multi-day mathematics competition held annually. College students from over 30 countries take part in this event. Each competition team consists of 3 students and they will have to finish mathematical modeling and computer programming within 96 hours. |
