Vice President of University of Missouri Visits SHNU

SHNU: On October 31st, Handy Williamson, Vice President of University of Missouri, visited SHNU with Dr. Ouyang, American Dean of Confucius Institute of the same university. The guests were received by representatives from SHNU Humanities and Communications College, SHNU ICCS (International College of Chinese Studies) and Department of International Affairs.
Both sides exchanged cooperative agreement on double bachelor’s degrees of journalism and probed details of how to put it into practice.
Ouyang briefed on various Chinese curricula and cultural promotions since the opening of Confucius Institute of University of Missouri (CIUM). Moreover, such issues as summer camp for 2013 students from CIUM in China, CIUM teachers’ training, internship opportunity for SHNU ICCS students, and methods to establish long-term communication mechanism have been discussed.
The CIUM was first founded in April, 2011 on the Campus of Columbia of the University of Missouri. So far, a series of seminars, such as economics, paper cutting, qigong, and tea arts and such cultural exchanges as jiaozi festival and arts show of Chinese night have been held.
