SHNU: SHNU students gave a performance filled with traditional Chinese culture flavor to teachers and students of the University of Botswana (UB) on October 9. The art performance was sponsored by Chinese Ministry of Education and the headquarters of Confucius Institute.
SHNU students Huang Yue and Liu Xinru played traditional Chinese musical instruments including bamboo flute, cucurbit flute, Xun and Chinese lute, which won rounds of applauses from the audience. Wei Ying introduced the knowledge of Chinese calligraphy and drew traditional Chinese painting on the scene. Chinese martial art was always very popular as the time when Bi Yunfei and Tang Yu performed Chinese Changquan(long fist), Taiji, fencing, etc., the whole performance reached its climax. The UB Chorus and Cucurbit Flute Club of CI also gave a wonderful performance.
Chinese ambassador to Botswana Liu Huanxing, relevant leaders from UB and over 1,000 teachers and students of the university were present.
SHNU students also performed at the famous Westwood International School in Haboro. More than 500 teachers and students watched the performance. Principal of Westwood International School Amanda Williams wished to cooperate with CI so that Chinese courses could be opened to offer students more opportunities to know about Chinese culture.
