Botswana Hosts Press Conference for Release of Chinese Textbooks by SHNU Teacher

SHNU: On October 28th, Friendly Chinese, the first Chinese language textbooks compiled by SHNU teacher Zhang Xin, was published in Botswana.
       The promotion of the textbook was initiated at the National Museum & Art Gallery in Gaborone, the Capital of Botswana. Over 60 attendants from various educational and media departments were present, including directors of the Ministry of Botswana and Publishing House, Chinese Embassy in Botswana, and Confucius Institute, etc.
The 89-year-old former Minister of Education Ministry of Botswana delivered a speech in which she expected that this book would enhance the ties between China and Botswana, and that Chinese language and cultural education would be incorporated in primary and middle school education system.
This textbook marks the first set of the Friendly Chinese Language series, funded by the current government and president of Botswana, with the aim of recording history for later generations.
The second volume of this set is being edited by the teachers of Confucius Institute of Botswana, and planned to be published in 2012.
