Delegation of University of Missouri Headed by Governor of Missouri Visits SHNU

SHNU: On October 28, a delegation headed by Jeremiah (Jay) Nixon, Governor of Missouri, and Prof. Handy Williamson, Vice President of University of Missouri (UM), paid a visit to SHNU SHNU Party Secretary Jianfei Lu warmly received the visitors.
       
Lu expressed warm welcome to Governor Jay Nixon and other delegates. He pointed out that the Confucius Institute (CI) of UM was the first CI of SHNU in the U.S., and SHNU would make every effort to consolidate the platform so that we could promote cultural exchanges and economic development.

Governor of Missouri thanked SHNU for the warm reception. He said UM was the best university of Missouri, and the state government had attached great importance to education and they were determined to create opportunities of mutual exchanges and cooperation. 

Founded in 1839, UM has a reputation for excellence in teaching and research work and offers more than 265 degree courses. With a total student enrollment of 63,000 and 280 degree programs, UM is the only university of the Missouri State that is listed in AAU (Association of American Universities). The CI of UM is the first CI SHNU established in the U.S., which was officially set up on April 8, 2011.
