01 Sep 2011

SHNU:Pro. Qi Huyang, Dean of International College of Chinese Studies of SHNU (ICCS), and Dr. Hu Jianfeng visited the University of Botswana (UB)  for an academic visit from August 18 to 24.

During the visit, Prof. Qi talked with Kgomotso Moahi, Dean of College of Humanities and Communications of UB and other relevant staff, who spoke highly of the achievements of the Confucius Institute. They hoped to cooperate with ICCS of SHNU in the Chinese Major, Pedagogy. Both sides reached an initial agreement that students of UB majoring in pedagogy could go to study in SHNU for a year after  two year’s study in UB.
SHNU delegates listened to the introduction of the Chinese language and culture teaching in CI and offered suggestions to relevant work. They also visited Chinese Embassy in Botswana and talked with Counselor Gou Haodong .

On the evening of August 23rd, Prof. Qi delivered in UB an academic lecture entitled "Chinese Cultural and Historical Background". From the perspective of history and culture, the lecture showed a vivid picture of the formation, development and transformation of modern Chinese language, which interested the audience and heated the atmosphere with interactions afterwards.

UB hoped that more Chinese scholars could come to the university for academic communication and promote Botswanians’ understanding of China.
