SHNU: On July 7th, the Ceremony of Engaging Anerood Jugnauth, President of the Republic of Mauritius, as the Honorary Professor of Shanghai Normal University, was held at Shanghai Jinjiang Hall. SHNU Party Secretary Lu Jianfei and SHNU President Zhang Minxuan conferred the certificates to Anerood.
Lu welcomed Anerood’s visit and stressed the international education perspectives of SHNU, and the multicultural communications among various nations, particularly the cooperation in terms of African studies which enables SHNU to be one of the universities engaged in the 20+20 cooperative plans (20 pairs of Chinese and African Universities join hands for further cooperation) .
Anerood also delivered gracious speech to express his thanks and readiness to receive the title of SHNU honorary professor and invited Lu and Zhang to attend the celebrative reception of direct air traffic between Shanghai and Mauritius.
As an island located in the southwestern Indian Ocean, the Republic of Mauritius has an area of 2,040 km2 and a population of 1.257 million.
