SHNU Delegation Visits Two Universities in Denver, U.S.

SHNU: Invited by the University of Denver (UD) and the Community College of Denver (CCD), the SHNU delegation, headed by President Li Jin and Vice President Lu Jianfei, paid a visit to the two universities on April 6. 

At the University of Denver, the delegation met with Eric Gould, Associate Dean in charge of the university’s international affairs, and Joe Docksev, Dean of the university’s Lamont School of Music, etc. Discussions were held on such issues as cooperation in establishing Confucius Institute and the “3+2 Project”.

Together with the delegation was SHNU Folk Music Orchestra, which presented a wonderful concert at the Hilmeton Hall stage of Lamont College of Music of UD. This is the debut performance of Chinese folk music at the university. After that the delegates visited the Newman Center of Performing Arts of Lamont School of Music.

      

While at Community College of Denver, the delegation was received by the college provost Ms. Dr.Bernice Harris. They also paid a visit to the Confucius Institute (CI) of the college. The two parties exchanged ideas on sharing teacher resources and worked out initial cooperation intent.
      
On April 4, Yang Guoqiang, Consul General of China in Chicago entertained SHNU delegation, and they exchanged opinions on further collaboration between SHNU and American universities under the jurisdiction of Chinese Consulate General in Chicago.
       
The SHNU delegation also went to the University of Missouri on April 7 and attended the opening ceremony of the Confucius Institute, the first CI of SHNU in the U.S.
