SHNU: The first Chinese Martial Arts Class jointly held by SHNU and the University of Botswana (UB) opened on August 30.
Many African people had seen films acted by Kung Fu stars like Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan, and some knew Drunker Style or Taichi or even thought Chinese people could “fly”. Chinese martial arts were therefore very popular in Africa. 70 students were luckily chosen to learn Kung Fu in the first Chinese Martial Arts Class.
The first lesson was given by SHNU teacher Gao Mufeng who would stay in UB for two weeks to teach some fundamentals of martial arts. Following the teacher on the playground, all the students were enthusiastic and diligent in learning and practicing.
It is said that outstanding students in this class will become members of the Chinese Martial Arts Club of the Botswana Confucius Institute and continue their study in the club.
