SHNU Students Won Two Silver Medals at the 15th National Games

On September 27th, the modern pentathlon competition of the 15th National Games concluded successfully at the Huangcun Sports Training Base in Guangdong Province. Li Liuchang, an undergraduate student majoring in sports training from SHNU School of Physical Education, won two silver medals in the men's individual events of modern pentathlon (Old Pentathlon) and modern pentathlon (New Pentathlon). This achievement not only marked a zero breakthrough in SHNU history of medal records at the National Games but also made Li the first student-athlete from SHNU to win dual medals in the same competition.  

At the award ceremony for Modern Pentathlon (New Pentathlon), Li Liuchang secured the silver medal with a score of 1,506 points in the Modern Pentathlon (Old Pentathlon) final held on September 21st, earning honors for the Shanghai delegation. In the debut Modern Pentathlon (New Pentathlon) final at the National Games on September 27th, he claimed another silver medal with 1,582 points, demonstrating outstanding all-around competitive prowess and mental resilience. The new Modern Pentathlon replaces equestrian with steepchase and will be an official event at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, making its National Games debut highly anticipated. Li Liuchang, unafraid of formidable opponents and delivering poised performances, showcased the well-rounded qualities of a top-tier athlete.
