SHNU: On May 18th, Yeping Li, internationally reputed STEM education expert from Texas A&M University and oriental scholar visited SHNU and spoke at Xuesihu Overseas Masters' Forum with the theme STEM Education: History, Perspectives, and Prospects for over 150 teachers and postgraduates.
Professor Li introduced the brief development of STEM education in the US before he described the characteristics of traditional education from three aspects: STEM content, education methods and evaluation. He stressed the importance of information technology in STEM education and displayed to the audiences the small robot toy popular among American primary school students Dash and Dot, which piqued great interest from the audiences.
After the seminar, professor Li interacted and exchanged with the listeners. As the Shanghai Oriental Scholar (lecture professor), Li has published 9 works and over 80 academic papers. He also acted as the chief editor of International Journal of STEM Education and Journal for STEM Education Research.
