The National Final of NECCS (National English Competition for College Students) was held at 24 provinces of China on October 23rd.
The SHNU candidates stood out by winning 4 Top-ranking Prizes and 15 First Prizes. Altogether 3, 093 candidates entered for the preliminary contest, including 1, 190 people for Group A, 156 for Group B, 1, 524 for Group C and 223 for Group D. At last, 212 candidates from 38 universities in Shanghai entered the final with a selection rate of 6 per thousand.
Sponsored by IATEFL and CELEA (China English Language Education Association), the NECCS is one of the largest competitions in scale and number of participants. It tests students’ skills in five aspects: reading, listening, speaking, writing and translating in the stages of English language learning.
