SHNU Student Won the Silver Medal in the Men's Individual Modern Pentathlon at the 15th National Games

Students from the Physical Education Institute won the silver medal in the men's individual modern pentathlon at the 15thNational Games On September 21st, in the men's individual final of modern pentathlon (old pentathlon) at the 15thNational Games. Li Liuchang, an undergraduate student majoring in sports training from SHNU School of Physical Education, won a silver medal with an excellent total score of 1,506 points. This is not only a valuable achievement for the Shanghai representative team, but also the first National Games medal in the history of SHNU, achieving a breakthrough of zero medals in the national sports arena. The National Games is held every four years and is the highest level and largest comprehensive sports event in China, representing the highest honor of domestic sports competition. In the final, Li Liuchang competed among top athletes from across the country. He performed particularly well in fencing and swimming, remained calm and courageous, and ultimately won a silver medal. Modern pentathlon was founded by the father of modern Olympics Pierre de Coubertin. Since its official establishment at the 1912 Olympics, it has always comprehensively tested athletes' physical fitness, skills, and willpower through equestrian, fencing, swimming, shooting, and running events.

Li Liuchang has previously achieved excellent results in modern pentathlon, not only including winning individual and team double championships in the 2024 National Modern Pentathlon Championships (New Pentathlon), but also individual and team double championships in the 2025 National Championship Wuhan Station, demonstrating strong comprehensive competitive strength.
