SHNU:Recently, SHNU delegation visited California Institute of Technology (Caltech) and signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the project of Leighton Chajnantor Telescope with Caltech, represented by Prof. Fiona Harrison, Chair of Division of Physics, Mathematics and Astronomy of Caltech, and Universidad de Concepcion (UdeC), represented by by Prof. Rodrigo Reeves on behalf of the Rector (President) of UdeC, Prof. Sergio Lavanchy Merino. The effort is a collaboration of SHNU along with Chinese Academy of Sciences, Caltech, and UdeC and will be operated in Chile.
The SHNU delegation also visited Owens Valley Radio Observatory, International Collaborative Work Headquarters of 30m Telescope in Pasadena, California, and the Caltech Submillimeter Observatory on the summit of Mauna Kea, Hawaii.
The project will focus on not only the frontiers of astrophysical researches, but alsothe fundamental sciences andpioneering technologies of physics and its disciplines.
