SHNU:On February 6th, the CI (Confucius Institute) of Mizzou (University of Missouri-Columbia) held celebrations on Chinese traditional Lantern Festival at Mizzou North. It attracted Mizzou teachers and students, as well as local citizens to attend.
The CI of Mizzou staffs created strong festivity: red decorations lanterns, bright puzzle sheets and merry Chinese traditional folk music. Almost each guest would join the games of lantern hand-making, including not only animal-shaped lanterns for kids, and more difficult ones for adults. About 200 lanterns were made.
The guests also shared special foods for this festival: Tang Yuan (Glutinous Dumpling), which also composed an important part of the celebrations.
The CI of Mizzou was co-sponsored by SHNU and Mizzou to establish friendly ties and promote Chinese traditional culture to local people.
