SHNU: Recently, two SHNU students from College of Music were awarded the Best Composer Prize and Music Pioneer respectively for their outstanding talents of music at the 5th Shanghai Original Music Contest for University Students. Also, SHNU won the Special Contribution Prize.
The contest centers on developing the innovative and cultural qualities of university students. The two SHNU candidates, as the only two Chinese folk music instrument players, survived in the one-month long preliminary and stood out to be included in the top 30. After that, they took advantage of blending various Chinese traditional musical instruments and their passion for Chinese culture before they composed the welfare song Hold on for Love. The two candidates combined music songs with creative small-stage plays, which attracted the audiences and judges as well.
