SHNU: Recently, the Development Strategy Conference of WCCO (World Historic and Cultural Canal Cities Cooperation Organization) was held in the city of Yang Zhou. SHNU Professor Jianfei Lu and 9 other experts were employed as the first batch of members of WCCO. The experts include former politician of Italy, Vice Director of National Bureau of Tourism, and scholars from well-known universities and academic institutions of China.
Over 70 scholars and experts attended the conference and discussed on the strategic plan of development, future work plan, and work rules of WCCO. Approved by the China State Council, the WCCO is an international organization connecting 35 Chinese canal cities and 25 overseas counterparts. In the last eight years, the WCCO serve 70 global cities, institutions and individual members by the link of economic and cultural exchanges of canal cities. It aims at promoting the common development and prosperity of cities, as well as protecting environment and urbanization, sustained development, cultural diversity and cross-cultural interactions, etc.
