SHNU: The academic symposium on Blue Ocean Civilization and Multi-coastal Society was held in SHNU on May 28th and 29th and attracted about 70 experts and scholars from over 40 universities and research institutes to assemble for exploring the significance of ocean civilization to Chinese history and that of national strategies of seaborne Silk Road to international relations development.
At the ceremony on May 28th, SHNU professor and Vice Director of Shanghai History Association Su Zhiliang, stressed the importance of coastal social development in offering precious opportunities, particularly the decisive meaning for Shanghai, the Pearl City at the Sea. The symposium concerns the construction of marine consciousness, marine culture, marine influence on local civilization, development of marine economy, marine transportation and business trade, international exchanges at the sea and marine rights protection, etc.
