Recently, the Higher Education Department of the Ministry of Education released “Public Announcement on the Results of the Third Batch of National First-Class Undergraduate Courses”, planning to recognize 5,999 courses as the Third Batch of National First-Class Undergraduate Courses. Among them, there are 1,000 online courses, 500 virtual simulation experiment teaching courses, 1,842 offline courses, 2,206 online and offline blended courses, and 451 social practice courses. A total of eight courses from SHNU have been successfully selected, and the number of selected courses ranks among the top of Shanghai's local universities.
The national first-class undergraduate courses are characterized by high quality, wide sharing scope, good application effects, and strong demonstration value. They represent the current highest level of undergraduate courses in China. Through effective measures such as early-stage layout construction, course operation guarantee, active mobilization of application, and the guidance from experts, the university has meticulously organized the course application work and has ensured a significant increase in the number of selected courses.
The construction of first-class undergraduate courses is an important lever for schools to implement the fundamental task of cultivating morality and talents, deepen educational and teaching reforms, and improve the quality of talent cultivation. SHNU will take the approval of the national first-class undergraduate courses as an opportunity to further establish and improve the university curriculum construction, management, evaluation, and incentive mechanisms, give full play to the exemplary and leading role of national first-class undergraduate courses, promote the full participation of teachers in curriculum concept innovation, content innovation, and mode innovation.
