On September 23rd, the 2022 Opening Ceremony for International Students was held at SHNU Conference Center and attended by representatives from SHNU Division of International Affairs, SHNU College of Music, ICCS, SHNU Xiejin Film and TV Arts. It was watched by the new students ensemble online and on the scene.
Jiang Mingjun, SHNU Vice President, delivered a speech on behalf of the teaching staffs to extend his gracious welcome to the newcomers and encourage them to expand their vision by a more active participation in university activities. Also, the representatives from SHNU College of Music and SHNU Xiejin Film and TV Arts, shared their experience by counselling them about the importance of striving forward with a set goal.
The students representatives also shared their learning life at SHNU and expressed their fond wishes to act as the cultural messenger of Chinese and overseas cultures and the bridge to strengthen the friendship between people from various countries.
Altogether, 440 international students from as many as 55 countries registered at SHNU this fall season. Hailing from ROK, Russia, Thai, Japan, Mongolia, and Indonesia, etc, these new students would start their academic life in 32 majors from 14 SHNU colleges. About 200 undergraduates and 110 postgraduates were enrolled, including 242 winners of scholarships of different levels in various countries and regions, 68 winners of Chinese government scholarships, 36 winners of international Chinese teachers’ scholarship and 138 winners of Shanghai government scholarship.
