SHNU Probes Cooperation Possibilities with PMO (Purple Mountain Observatory)

06 Sep 2022

On August 24th, SHNU Vice President Li Ye led a team to visit China Polar Studies Center together with Mao Ruiqing, Vice Director of PMO, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), and Shi Shengcai, academician of CAS. They also visited the Xuelong 2 and Xuelong (polar exploration craft in charge of 39th scientific exploration mission to the South Pole). Further cooperation has been discussed among SHNU, CAS and PRIC (Polar Research Institute of China).

This year, the 30-centimeter submillimeter telescope from PMO and the 3-meter radio-telescope has been shipped to Antarctica via Xuelong for installment and observation. The cooperative efforts could not only promote research in astronomical exploration, but also the rapid leap of avant-garde physical sciences studies in terms of materials and equipment. Moreover, it strengthens the academic research standards and international cooperation of SHNU physical disciplines.
