Recently, the 8th Peacock Cup National Vocal Music Arts Show for Arts Colleges was held and the winners include 3 students and a teacher from SHNU. Hua Xinru, a junior student of SHNU, won the Gold Peacock Prize for Bel Canto Undergraduates’ Group; two others won Excellent Prize for the same group and their teacher Lu Rong wong Outstanding Director’s Prize.
Sponsored by China Vocal Musicians’ Association and over 40 higher arts college, the Peacock Cup Vocal Music Contest is large in scale and high in standards. This year marked the 8th time that such a show was launched since 2008. More than 30 music college deans, professors, singers or singing theorists acted as judges and about 2,000 candidates were attracted to it.
