On July 21st, the report titled Himalayas: create an international peace park, co-authored by scholars from China, Nepal and the USA, was published at No. 607 of Nature. The first and correspondence author is Gao Jun from SHNU College, Dinesh Bhuju, academician of Nepal Academy of Science and technology, Li Jie, teacher from Shanghai Institute of Technology, Shao Guofan professor of Purdue University and Dr Pitamber Sharma from Resources Himalaya Foundation. According to the report, the World’s Highest International Peach Park would connect China’s Mount. Everest with Sagarmatha National Park in Nepal, so as to promote the unique, fragile and irreversible eco-system while strengthening the biodiversity and efficiency of cross-bordering protection of ecological habitats.
Since 2011, SHNU Professor Gao Jun led a team to access the China National Conservatory of Mount. Everest in Tibet and took advantage of remote-control and geographical information technology to evaluate the ecological quality there and completed a series of ecological tour development plan which was honored as the Eco-plan of World’s Highest Altitude. Until now, the team has accomplished field research along the No, 219 National Highway from Yecheng in Xinjiang Province to Tengchong in Yunnan Province. During the decade, the team has entered the snowfield highland for more than 30 times and researched on highland with an average 4, 000 meters above sea level. They surmounted the altitude reaction and completed the total journey of over 50, 000 kilometers.
